Mentally Ill Woman Strangled 11-Yr Daughter, Cut Her Own Wrist After Skipping Medicine

In a horrific incident, a woman who was suffering from mental illness killed her 11 yrs old daughter by strangling her with a dupatta and then tried to kill herself by cutting her wrist.

As per the reports, the incident happened on Thursday night in the Borivali area of Mumbai where the woman used to live with her husband and daughter in a rented 3 BHK apartment. The girl has been identified as Ruhaani Solanki and the mother’s name is Rekha Solanki (46 yrs old). The mother was undergoing treatment from two hospitals, one is in Andheri and second is in Baroda but for the last three days, she was not taking medicines.

The police was informed about the incident by the father of the girl. The father said that at around 10:30 after dinner, he was sitting in the living room when Rekha took Ruhaani inside the room and locked it from inside. Soon, Ruhaani started shouting and told her father that her mother is trying to harm her and then the voice stopped coming.

When the police arrived at the residence, they had to break the door and Rekha was lying on the floor with blood flowing around her and daughter was lying near her with a dupatta around her neck.

The daughter was declared dead at hospital on arrival but Rekha was alive so her treatment was started by the doctors. A police official stated, “We have registered a case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code against the woman. Further investigation is on.”

A resident who lives in the same housing society told mediapersons, “They looked like a regular family. In fact, at a recent event hosted by the housing society, the daughter performed and seemed like a cheerful girl. Last evening, she was walking her pet downstairs. Whatever has happened is shocking.”

This is really shocking.
