Michael Vaughan Feels This England Star Can Break Sachin Tendulkar’s Record

The legendary former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar holds a good number of records when it comes to international cricket but former English cricketer Michael Vaughan is of the opinion that one record of Sachin is going to get broken by an English cricketer pretty soon.

Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-scorer record in test cricket with 15921 runs in 200 test matches at an average of 53.78. Vaughan wrote in a column, “Joe Root will become England’s leading run-scorer in the next few months and is so special that he really could overtake Sachin Tendulkar eventually.”

Joe Root scored his 32nd century in the second test match against West Indies which England won by 241 runs and with this innings, his runs tally has reached to 11940 runs from 142 test matches and he is just 14 runs away from crossing Brian Lara runs tally of 11953.

Michael Vaughan praised Joe Root for his innings as he wrote, “With the bat generally they (England) did not look reckless like they have in the past. They are scoring quickly, but it doesn’t look like their egos are taking over. They are just playing with good sense. As the rock, Root is obviously key to that, and I love that he kept the reverse-scoop in the locker until he was past 100 and England’s lead was massive.”

He further wrote, “Against an attack like the West Indies in these conditions, you expect him (Root) to get a century. He missed out in the first innings but was so determined to put it right in the second. He was never going to make the same mistakes.”

The third and the final test match will be played from 26 July in Birmingham and after winning the first two test matches, England will certainly like to whitewash the series.
