Mika Singh, known for his chart-topping tracks and unfiltered honesty, has always stood by his emotions—no matter how public the setting. In a candid conversation, the singer opened up about a particularly vulnerable moment that took even him by surprise. He shared that there are times when he’s unaware of how deeply certain notes or lyrics will affect him until he sings them out loud.
During a podcast interview, Mika admitted, “Sometimes I would cry listening to my songs. I think it’s age also. I cried after singing two lines of a song on a reality show. If I tell somebody, they won’t believe me. They will say, ‘Kaunsa tu Tansen ki aulad hai’.”
Recounting a specific moment, the Sawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag hitmaker revealed how he became overwhelmed while performing Bade Achhe Lagte Hain on a television reality show. “I was singing the song ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ at the show, and I became happy listening to myself sing. Priyanka Chopra was sitting beside me, and I started crying,” he recalled.
However, his emotional display did not sit well with everyone. “Trolls said, ‘He can’t sing, that’s why he is crying.’ Now, the whole industry cries on reality shows, but when I used to do that, people would ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?’” Mika Singh added, pointing out the double standards in the way emotional expression is often received in the entertainment world.
His story is a reminder that even the most seasoned performers can be moved by their own art—and that vulnerability, far from being a weakness, is part of what makes music so powerful.
