Mahaakshay Chakraborty, known to many as Mimoh, has carved his own path in the film industry with roles in projects like Haunted 3D and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter. Despite being born into a family of celebrated actors—Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali—Mimoh’s journey in Bollywood has been far from smooth. In an interview, the actor revealed the emotional weight of the criticism that not only targeted him but also his family.
Reflecting on the personal struggles he faced, Mimoh shared that the harshest remarks were often directed toward his mother. “The meanest things were like they were making fun of my mom. I would understand for my dad, yes, carrying his legacy. Mere zariye, they were insulting dad, because you cannot pinpoint and say ki Mithun Chakraborty isme kharab tha. It’s because his legacy is so strong, toh unko laga chalo Mimoh ke through humlog Mithun Chakraborty ko bhi gaali de denge.”
The 40-year-old actor explained that the criticism often didn’t even include his name. Instead, it referred to him only as Mithun Chakraborty’s son, a way, he believes, to indirectly target his father. “So they weren’t writing my name, they said Mithun Chakraborty’s son, Mithun da ka beta, so they wanted to feel good, whoever they were. But then it became too much, and it was going to my mother. And there were actors in the industry who did that.”
What disturbed Mimoh the most was that this mockery didn’t come solely from the public or the media but from within the very industry he belonged to. “Forget normal people, audience, it was people from the industry jo khule aam jaake mom ka mazaak uda rahe the. And it became a little too much for me. Ki yaar mere tak thik hai, dad tak thik hai, but mom pe mat jaao, you know. But then I know we all go through this.”
Mimoh’s revelations shed light on the darker side of fame and legacy in Bollywood—how the shadow of iconic parents can sometimes invite unwarranted judgment not just for the next generation, but for the entire family.
