As the outrage continues to grow over Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark on the digital talent show India’s Got Latent, the issue has now taken a serious legal turn. According to a report by India TV, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell is preparing to initiate legal proceedings against the popular YouTuber for his alleged non-cooperation in the ongoing investigation.

Summons had been sent to comedians Samay Raina and Ashish Chanchlani, along with Ranveer Allahbadia and content creator Apoorva Mukhija. While Samay and Ashish have complied and appeared for questioning, Ranveer and Apoorva have yet to respond. Their failure to appear has prompted the Cyber Cell to accuse them of non-compliance and consider further legal measures.

The controversy stems from an episode of India’s Got Latent, in which Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant an inappropriate and highly offensive question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once to make it stop forever?” The moment, though laughed off by panelists including Apoorva Mukhija and Ashish Chanchlani, sparked immediate backlash on social media. The outrage eventually snowballed into multiple FIRs being filed against both Ranveer and the show’s creators.

With public sentiment strongly against the tone and content of the show, and the legal noose tightening, this incident may mark a turning point in how digital content creators are held accountable for what they put online.
