India’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel has firmly refuted suggestions that Jasprit Bumrah might be underprepared for the upcoming tour of England, despite his limited appearances in the recent Indian Premier League (IPL).
Morkel expressed full confidence in the star pacer’s ability to get himself ready. “He (Bumrah) knows how to get himself ready and prepare. I was blown away by the energy in his bowling over the last three days. So that’s very exciting to see a happy ‘Boom’,” Morne Morkel told reporters during a recent Indian training session.
He emphasized the importance of managing Bumrah carefully, adding, “I’m just happy his body is in good shape at the moment, and we’ll manage him well. We’ll be smart with him because he’s obviously key for us.”
Beyond Jasprit Bumrah, Morne Morkel is optimistic about the overall squad selection, believing the Indian team has all its bases covered. He highlighted the immediate goal for the team: “I think we’ve covered all bases. But our key now is to get Test match fit and ready, to regain that sharpness since we haven’t played Test matches for a while.”
