Mother’s Recipe: This engineer opened shop for 5000 moms to earn their recipes

Aman Porwal, an engineer, founded MomsKart, an online marketplace where moms from all across India exchange handmade delights with a large audience. He discusses what motivated him to embark on this business path.

The Chandigarh resident is one of 5,000 ‘mompreneurs’ who offer a range of handmade delights to people across India through the platform, which was created specifically for Indian moms to share their culinary expertise with others.

Dimpy received a request for besan ladoos today. She reveals that the dessert is one of her most popular goods on the marketplace. As she works on the delicious treat, she reflects on how lovely it is to have her ladoos, a favourite of her children, being enjoyed by people from all over the country. Her MomsKart experience began in 2018, when she discovered the site while perusing on Facebook. Dimpy used to rely on word of mouth to find consumers for her namkeens and granola bars.

Aman Porwal, an engineer from Indore, is the guy behind this platform. He describes how a long-held desire to do something “different” became a wonderful and uncommon economic opportunity.

Aman, who has always had an inquisitive mind, recalls that while his classmates were attending lectures, he was more interested in what lied outside the classroom.

While his cohort prepared for placements in 2020, Aman did as well. When he did not get the job he was applying for, he turned his attention to the corporate sector. He returned to a company concept that had been brewing in his mind for some time.

With this in mind, Aman decided to launch MomsKart, a company that would allow moms to easily find consumers for their products.

Was it difficult to launch a business while still pursuing a degree?

Aman explains the MomsKart concept as an online marketplace that partners with women to create their businesses rather than a startup endeavour.

MomsKart, while conventional, is geared to satisfy the requirements of moms who are new to business.

The way the platform lets sellers grasp the technology without complicating the process is a critical component of its design.

There is a fascinating world to explore after you master the ropes.

A world of handmade delicacies greets anybody who visits MomsKart, including masalas, premixes of idli, sambhar, khichdi, and more, karela chips, small kachoris, soya sticks, achaars, and fudge chocolate, among others. These flavours may be found in houses all throughout India, or to be more specific, “across 20,000 pincodes.”

Aman takes delight in creating a platform that contains so many emotions. Yet, while he thinks it’s been incredible, he also says it hasn’t been without obstacles.

For one thing, there was no co-founder.

Now, the firm generates a monthly revenue of Rs 5 lakh and works with a variety of logistic partners for delivery.

Years of thought and work have culminated in a terrific business for Aman, and he believes that life has gone full circle.
