IPL 2024 is going to be very important for Indian cricketers as T20 World Cup 2024 is also going to take place this year and good performance in IPL 2024 will strengthen the chances of Indian cricketers’ inclusion in the World Cup squad for India.
There are some reports which suggest that the Indian selectors are having doubts over including Virat Kohli in the squad for T20 World Cup as he hasn’t played T20 international matches since T20 World Cup 2022. Though Rohit Sharma also didn’t play any T20 internationals after T20WC 2022, Rohit and Virat were called back for the Afghanistan series.
While Rohit Sharma is going to lead the Indian team in T20 WC 2024, there are doubts over Virat Kohli’s chances of playing the tournament. However, former Indian selector MSK Prasad has come out in support of King Kohli and given a strong message for the Indian selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar.
MSK Prasad stated, “Kohli is crucial for India in the T20 World Cup. The selectors can’t think that IPL is a place for him to prove his quality. He was never out of the team for his form. He missed India matches because of family reasons. He has been in form for a long time. He will make runs in this IPL as well.”
