Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah has been running for 16 years and it is one of the most popular shows of the Indian television but interestingly, the makers have managed to run the show successfully without one of its most important characters for more than 6 years.
Yes, you guessed it right, we are talking about Disha Vakani aka Dayaben who went on a maternity leave in 2017 but hasn’t returned since then.
Recently, actress Munmun Dutta who plays the role of Babita Ji in the show opened up on Disha Vakani’s absence in an interview. She said, “We always remember those who left us, even the ones who quit the show. I miss Disha a lot. Whenever we crack jokes, we recall, ‘Remember when Disha said this or that?’ We have so many good memories together. Whenever Disha would get calls from unknown numbers, she would change her voice before answering them.”
The producer of the show, Asit Kumarr Modi has stated on many occasions that the search for new Dayaben is going on but it won’t be easy for any actor to fill the shoes of Disha Vakani.
