Famous for his electrifying pace in the 2024 IPL, Mayank Yadav quickly became a fan favorite due to his ability to consistently bowl at over 150 km/h. His standout performance came when he clocked an impressive 156.7 km/h during the IPL, catching the attention of both fans and selectors. Despite nursing an injury that kept him out of domestic cricket, Mayank’s IPL success earned him a maiden international call-up for India’s T20I series against Bangladesh.
Mayank Yadav made his international debut in the first T20I against Bangladesh, held in Gwalior. He delivered a maiden over and took his first international wicket by dismissing Mahmudullah, making an immediate impact. His pace remained formidable, consistently exceeding 149 km/h, although he did not breach the 150 km/h mark during the match.
In the second T20I in Delhi, Mayank continued to impress, regularly hitting speeds of 146.7 km/h. Though still falling short of the 150 km/h milestone in international cricket, his raw pace and ability to trouble batters were evident throughout the series.
During the Delhi T20I, Bangladesh’s experienced opener, Tamim Iqbal, commented on Mayank’s bowling, noting, “Mayank Yadav has not touched 150 in this series.” In a quick-witted response, fellow commentator Murali Kartik quipped, “Neither has Bangladesh,” referencing the visitors’ struggles with the bat.
Bangladesh’s batting line-up faced significant challenges throughout the series, being bowled out for 127 in the first match and only managing 135/9 in a chase of 222 in the second T20I. Mayank continued his wicket-taking form in Delhi, dismissing Jaker Ali for 1.
Although Mayank Yadav has yet to hit the 150 km/h mark in international cricket, his debut series has showcased his potential as a future pace spearhead for India. With raw pace and the ability to generate speed consistently, Mayank’s performances in the IPL and international cricket highlight a promising career ahead.
