Actor Nagarjuna has taken legal action against Telangana political leader Konda Surekha after she made controversial claims regarding his son, Naga Chaitanya’s divorce from Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Despite Surekha withdrawing her statement, Nagarjuna has filed a criminal defamation case, followed by another Rs 100 crore defamation lawsuit.
On Wednesday, Surekha claimed that Telangana Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) interfered in Naga Chaitanya and Samantha’s relationship, which allegedly led to their divorce. This statement sparked significant backlash, prompting Nagarjuna to take legal action.
In an interview, Nagarjuna expressed his frustration, stating, “We filed a criminal defamation case yesterday. We are in the process of filing another Rs 100-crore defamation lawsuit against her. Her outrageous comments cannot be allowed to slide under the crack. She now says she is withdrawing her remarks. She has apparently apologized to Samantha. What about my family? Not a word of apology to me and to my family!”
When asked if an apology from Konda Surekha would result in the withdrawal of the lawsuit, Nagarjuna firmly responded, “No. Not at all. This is no longer personal. The slander has gone far beyond just me and my family. The support we’ve received from the biggest to the smallest names in the Telugu industry has made me realize we are in the process of stemming the rot that has seeped into the core of our system. You can’t use our names for political gains. We in the entertainment industry won’t be soft targets anymore.”
For those unaware, Konda Surekha recently accused KTR of causing a rift between Naga Chaitanya and Samantha, which led to their widely publicized split. This allegation triggered a wave of controversy, leading to Nagarjuna’s decision to pursue legal recourse.
