Nation Mourns: 3 Army Soldiers Killed in Heart-Wrenching Encounter in Kulgam

In an encounter with militants on Friday in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam area, at least three soldiers were killed. After receiving information that there were terrorists present in the higher reaches of the Halan forest region of the Kulgam district in south Kashmir, security personnel began a search and cordon operation, a police officer said.

Kulgam. Security Forces operations were begun on August 4 in response to specific information indicating the presence of terrorists in Kulgam’s higher reaches of Halan. Three employees were hurt during the firefight with the terrorists, and one of them eventually died.

Following information regarding the presence of terrorists there, security personnel conducted a cordon and search operation in the upper reaches of the Halan forest area of the Kulgam district in south Kashmir, a police officer said. He claimed that after the terrorists fired at the security personnel, who returned fire, the search operation degenerated into an encounter.

Search efforts are still on, according to a tweet from the Chinar Corps of the Army in Srinagar. The Army’s 15 Corps stated in a tweet that the operation in the area is still in progress. “After terrorists fired at the security forces and they replied, the search operation evolved into an engagement. Three security forces members were hurt during the gunfire engagement, and they later died while receiving medical attention.

“The encounter has begun in the highest parts of the Halan forest area in the Kulgam district. The Kulgam Police and Army are working. More information will be provided, as the Kashmir Zone Police tweeted as well. The official reported that additional support had been dispatched quickly, and that the search effort had been stepped up.
