Early on Friday morning, an earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 rocked Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and the neighboring districts of Pakistan.
At approximately 5:30 am, portions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad felt the earthquakes. The measured depth of the earthquake was 16 kilometers. Fearing the earthquakes, the residents came out of their houses and began chanting Kalma-e-Tayyaba. The news report further stated that there have been no reports of injuries or property damage in any section of Rawalpindi or Islamabad.
Gilgit was rocked by an earthquake with a Richter value of 3.3 last month. According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), it has been confirmed in Gilgit and the surrounding areas, but no fatalities or property damage have been recorded.
As per the National Seismic Monitoring Centre Islamabad, the earthquake’s epicenter is located close to the Quaidabad region of Karachi, and its depth was measured at 15 km.
In the most recent incident, NSMC Islamabad recorded an epicenter located 84 kilometers to the northwest and an earthquake depth of 45 km. In October, a moderate earthquake that struck Karachi, the provincial capital of Sindh, had a Richter scale value of 3.1.
