Navjot Singh Sidhu recently spoke about Kapil Sharma’s resilience during his challenging times, emphasizing his exceptional talent and the impact he’s made on Indian comedy. Sidhu, who joined Kapil on The Great Indian Kapil Show recently, reflected on moments when Kapil faced significant struggles, leaving many to doubt his future in the entertainment industry. However, Sidhu consistently believed in Kapil’s innate ability to entertain.
During an interview, Navjot Singh Sidhu stated, “When Kapil was not well, he was jittery, going through a tough time. People told me he was finished,” asserting that Kapil’s genius is unmatched. “Talent does what it can, genius does what it must,” he added, expressing his admiration.
Sidhu reminisced about the original cast, including Ali Asgar and Sunil Grover, who brought beloved characters to life on the show. Reflecting on his recent encounter with Sunil Grover, known for his iconic role as “Gutthi,” Sidhu described him as another comedic talent who continues to captivate audiences.
“There was dadi (Ali Asgar) and others. I wish we could all come together again,” Sidhu remarked, adding, “Gutthi (Sunil Grover) met me in Goa recently, and he’s amazing. He’s another genius.”
Kapil Sharma, who gained widespread popularity through his comedy show, also faced tough times during his career. While he achieved fame through television, his attempt to venture into film production proved financially draining. Kapil admitted that producing two movies left him bankrupt, leading to a phase of depression and financial distress.
In a candid conversation, Kapil also opened up about his struggle with alcoholism, which exacerbated his mental health issues. He experienced anxiety and depression, often canceling shoots and isolating himself, which contributed to his reputation for unreliability.
