Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan’s wedding in 2022 was a grand celebration of love, cultural traditions, and familial values. After dating for years, the couple originally planned to wed at the iconic Tirupati temple, but logistical challenges led to a last-minute venue change.
Within just ten days, the wedding arrangements were relocated to the Sheraton Grand Chennai Resort and Spa in Mahabalipuram, a feat accomplished by the Shaadi Squad, the same team behind star-studded weddings like those of Virat Kohli-Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif-Vicky Kaushal.
Despite the challenges, the couple insisted on keeping their chosen wedding date, demonstrating their commitment to making their dream day special. Nayanthara, born as Diana Kurien, shared her vision for the ceremony in Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale. Having converted to Hinduism, she opted for a Hindu wedding with subtle English touches, blending her cultural heritage with her spiritual journey. “Since I have become a Hindu, and we have to do a Hindu wedding, I thought it should be a beautiful mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding,” she said.
The ceremony was a star-studded affair, attended by luminaries like Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Mani Ratnam, Suriya, and Jyotika. The day after their wedding, the couple visited the Tirupati temple to seek blessings, staying true to their original plans in spirit.
Today, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are proud parents to twin sons, Uyir and Ulag, born via surrogacy.
