100 Indian audiences are set to enjoy the first-ever Indian Spider-Man from the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the silver screen, featuring Pavitr Prabhakar as Spider-Man from Earth-50101. Indian cricketer Shubman Gill is the voice of Pavitr Prabhakar.

India will soon get its first Marvel Cinematic Universe Spider-Man. Sony India revealed that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse would open in India on June 1, 2023, a day before its US release. Pavitr Prabhakar will play Earth-50101 Spider-Man.

Karan Soni, who played Deadpool cab driver Dopinder, voices Pavitr Prabhakar with Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, and Oscar Isaac. Across the Spider-Verse releases in India in 10 languages, including English. In Hindi and Punjabi, Shubman Gill plays Pavitr Prabhakar.

Shubman Gill promoted his role as Pavitr Prabhakar in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse at a closed-door meeting. He discussed how he prepared for the part, his superhero obsession, and more. Sony Pictures Releasing International (SPRI) India General Manager and Head Shony Panjikaran attended. Sony released the new Pavitr Prabhakar trailer in nine languages at the occasion. Let’s review Shubman Gill’s event remarks.

Shony Panjikaran said that Spider-Man and Shubman have many traits. He said, “He is the youngest superhero we all know of, and Shubman is one of the youngest cricketers in the cricket team, and more importantly he has achieved so much in this young age.” Panjikaran said, “He is the only Indian cricketer, who has hit a ton in Test cricket, ODIs, T20I and Indian Premier League.” He said Gill is “like a true hero for millions of youngsters out there and that’s what we were looking for in our Spiderman.”

Panjikaran says Shubman Gill “represents” “With great power comes great responsibility.” Gill also remarked that genuine joy comes from giving and that even as a cricketer, he would be happy to impact a person’s life. Gill hopes to inspire others with his cricket-inspired athleticism and discipline.

Gill added that voicing Pavitr Prabhakar was an amazing first chance for him as a sportsman. This prospect also intrigued him. Voice-acting taught Gill a lot about himself. Shubman also wondered if voice acting was his calling like many other cricketers before him. He fanboyed over Spider-Man. He doubted his ability to act more often.

“When I saw how the character turned out, it felt very nice.”Shubman Gill Spider-Man fanshubman Gill As a Spider-Man fan, he loved seeing an Indian Spider-Man onscreen. Gill stated, “When I was watching it, I was like, wow, this is so cool, and even cooler that I did it.”

Gill initially saw Sam Raimi’s 2002 Spider-Man, starring Toby McGuire, and became a Spider-Man fan. His family watched the movie twice in two days on TV. Gill thought he was a superhero like Spidey since no one else could climb doors. He likes Thor comics and has read several.

Gill and a friend played Spider-Man: Miles Morales (2020) on PlayStation. He’s thrilled to finish Spider-Man 2 in 45 days, like he did the first time.

Now that MCU has its own Indian Spider-Man, Panjikaran was asked if Sony planned to remake “Desi Spiderman’s” classic song. Tom Holland danced to this song, Rishabh Pant sang it during a cricket match against Australia, and more. To our amusement, Panjikaran revealed that Sony had considered it many times over the years.

The million-dollar question is how to make a parody of a spoof. The three spider-man meme points at each other. If you’ve seen the trailers, Across the Spider-verse is the finest tribute to that. Who knows, we may have a Pavitr Prabhakar or someone affiliated with him and an ode to the Spider-Man melody churaya mere dil ka chain. Wait and see.”

Gill also said “Virat bhai” (Virat Kohli) when asked to cast Venom’s Indian voice. He also likes Ishan Kishan as Peter Parker’s voice. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits Indian theaters June 1, 2023.

Panjikaran said that Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse would open in 1800 Indian theaters in ten languages. English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Gujarati, Marathi, Punjabi, and Bengali.

The Indian National Cricket Team prevents Gill from attending the premiere with his friends and family. However, he said he would love to attend the premiere in a spider-man costume. Spider-Man debuts in India on June 1 and globally on June 2, 2023.
