No Action Against Rohit, Virat Or Gambhir For BGT Debacle, Seniors Will Play In England Series

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, senior batter Virat Kohli, and head coach Gautam Gambhir are expected to retain their positions despite the series defeat against Australia in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

According to a report, Gambhir is likely to continue as head coach, not only for the upcoming 2025 Champions Trophy but also for India’s next Test challenge—a five-match away series in England scheduled for June. Rohit and Kohli, who faced criticism for their lackluster performances during the Australia series, are also anticipated to remain in the squad for the England Tests.

The report further states that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) plans to hold a review meeting regarding the disappointing tour. However, the board does not attribute the failure to Gambhir’s coaching.

A BCCI source said, “Yes, there will be a review meeting, but no one is getting sacked. You can’t dismiss a coach just because the batters underperformed in a single series. Gautam Gambhir will continue as coach, and both Virat and Rohit will play in the England series. The primary focus is the Champions Trophy.”

Do you think that action should have been taken at least against the non-performing batters?
