Nokia opens India’s first 6G lab to develop critical technologies & applications

Nokia has opened a 6G lab in Bengaluru, India, at its Global R&D headquarters. This innovative effort accelerates crucial technology and use case development using 6G technology. These technologies serve industry and society.

India’s Minister of Railways, Communications, Electronics & IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, virtually inaugurated this cutting-edge facility. At the ceremony, Vaishnaw emphasized the lab’s innovative transportation safety, healthcare, and education applications. The Digital India initiative should benefit from these advances.

Nokia’s 6G lab will test breakthrough ideas and analyze their economic potential with industry stakeholders. The lab researches ‘Network as a Sensor’ technology, which lets networks sense things, people, and movement without sensors. This experimental platform supports algorithm, privacy, and sustainable system design research.

Network Exposure and Automation will be studied for 6G. Nokia’s Chief Strategy and Technology Officer, Nishant Batra, promised to engage with stakeholders to make India a 6G leader. This supports the ‘Bharat 6G Vision,’ which aims to make India a leader in 6G technology design, development, and implementation.
