The 2012 romantic comedy Cocktail, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, left an indelible mark with its heartfelt story, memorable performances, and chart-topping soundtrack. Now, over a decade later, fans may have reason to rejoice as reports suggest that Maddock Films is gearing up for a sequel, tentatively titled Cocktail 2.
According to reports, Cocktail 2 is in the early stages of development, with Shahid Kapoor reportedly being considered for the lead role. While Shahid hasn’t officially signed the film yet, he is said to have verbally committed to the project. The sequel will once again see Homi Adajania, who directed the original, return to helm the project.
Production for Cocktail 2 is expected to begin in mid-2025. If confirmed, the film will mark Shahid Kapoor’s second collaboration with Maddock Films after Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya.
A source close to the project revealed that the idea for a sequel had been in discussion for years. “Homi Adajania and Dinesh Vijan have been contemplating the idea of a Cocktail sequel for a few years. They have now crafted a storyline that they feel lives up to the magic of the first film,” the source said.
With the original film being a perfect blend of humor, romance, and drama, fans will have high expectations for the sequel to recreate the same magic.
