Sadia Khateeb, who is currently receiving immense praise for her performance in The Diplomat alongside John Abraham, recently shared a surprising revelation about her early days in the industry.
The actress disclosed that she was originally offered the lead role of Laila in the romantic drama Laila Majnu but turned it down, assuming the offer was a scam.
Recalling the incident in an interview, Sadia explained how she was an engineering student with no prior background in acting when she received the unexpected casting call. “That’s how it all started. I was an engineering student. I’m from Jammu & Kashmir, and had no background in acting. They asked me to play Laila and I blocked the number, thinking it’s a fake call. Imagine if you’re living in a small town, would you have any idea who’s actually casting in Mumbai? It can be human trafficking!” she revealed.
Eventually, the role of Laila went to Triptii Dimri, who starred opposite Avinash Tiwary in the film. Sadia’s journey, however, took a different turn, and she has now carved a niche for herself in the industry with her remarkable performances.
