Google has officially confirmed that its AI-powered platform, NotebookLM, will soon be available as a mobile app. Originally introduced as Project Tailwind in 2023, NotebookLM is designed to help users with research and writing using artificial intelligence. It became available in India in June 2024 and has steadily grown in popularity.

The platform allows users to upload materials in various formats into digital notebooks. From there, the AI can summarize the content, answer questions about the data, and even create podcast-style audio conversations between two virtual voices—making studying and research both efficient and engaging.

Recently, NotebookLM’s official handle on X (formerly Twitter) responded to a user, confirming that a mobile app version is indeed in the works. However, Google has not shared details about the release timeline, whether the app will be available on both Android and iOS, or what new features users can expect.

Currently, NotebookLM is accessible through its web interface or as a Progressive Web App (PWA). While PWAs offer a more app-like experience, they still lack the optimized, mobile-first design typically seen in native apps. Users are hoping that the upcoming dedicated app will offer smoother navigation, better performance, and enhanced functionality.

One of the platform’s most buzzworthy features is the audio overview, which generates natural-sounding dialogues between two AI hosts. This feature turns complex information into conversational audio content, perfect for on-the-go learning.

Due to growing demand, Google has also rolled out a premium version of NotebookLM called NotebookLM Plus. The free plan includes up to 100 notebooks with 50 sources each, 50 chat queries per day, and three audio generations daily. The premium version offers increased limits, enhanced privacy, and additional security—also included as part of the Google One AI Premium subscription.

While we await the official app launch, it’s clear that Google is positioning NotebookLM as a next-gen learning and productivity tool powered by AI. Stay tuned for more updates as Google reveals more about the upcoming app version.
