Odisha bank gets crowded as cash is credited from ‘unknown source’ in accounts

After money was credited to the bank accounts of several customers from ‘unknown sources,’ there was a mad rush at Odisha Kalinga Gramya Bank in Batipada, Aul block, Kendrapara district.

Customers flocked to the bank after receiving text messages requesting Rs 10,000–Rs 70,000 in credit. Many customers went to the bank to find out who deposited the money, while others withdrawn cash.

“I went to the bank after learning that my and others’ accounts had been credited.” It’s unclear who sent the money. Customer Minati Sahu said, “I came to withdraw Rs 10,000 because others had done so.”

Customers and bank officials are confused by their deposits.

The branch manager said, “Since this morning, some of our customers have begun receiving money ranging from Rs 2,000 to Rs 30,000.” Where the bank deposits came from is unknown. We found Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima funds. Unknown how it happened.”

The branch manager estimated 200–250 people withdrew money from the branch. He added, “I’d seen some customers with credit of Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000.” We have no idea about the money credit and are verifying it.”
