Odisha train crash: Coromandel Express set to get back on the same track!!

The tragic Coromandel Express left hundreds of people dead after derailing in Balasore, Odisha. It is expected to return to the same track on June 7.

On Wednesday, June 7, the tragic Coromandel Express, which derailed in Balasore, Odisha, is expected to return to the same track. Train number 12842 will depart from Chennai Central at 7 AM and arrive at Shalimar the very next day at around 10:40 AM, according to the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a public sector organization that offers ticketing, catering, and tourism services for the Indian Railways.

The trip is crucial given that the train had a fatal accident in Odisha on June 2, which left at least 275 people dead.

On the other hand, train number 12841, which runs every day, would resume its return journey from Shalimar to Chennai on June 7 from its usual time of 15:20 and conclude at around 16.50 (the next day).

Member of the Railway Board’s Operation and Business Development Jaya Varma Sinha claimed to have spoken with the drivers of the tragic trains and that they moved the trains after receiving a green signal. According to her, the Coromandel Express’s driver obtained the go-ahead to enter a loop line where a freight train was waiting.

Sinha asserted that the data, which she claimed to be extremely sensitive, also supported her assertion. “I have heard rumors of signal and speed overrides being circulated. These, however, are just rumors. The train was going at a speed of 128 kilometres per hour, according to both drivers, who moved it after receiving a green signal, she said.

The senior rail official added that the accident route is in a “high-speed” zone where drivers are only allowed to travel at a top speed of 130 kmph. Both trains were moving at 128 kmph, according to the speedometer, a gauge that measures and shows a vehicle’s immediate speed, said Sinha.

“Safety is Railways’ top priority. We are taking precautions to ensure that neither the evidence nor any witnesses are harmed, according to Sinha. “The Coromandel Express was the only train that was involved in the crash. The coaches of the Coromandel Express collided with the freight train, and they ended up on top of it. The full impact of the collision was on the train because it was a large, iron ore-loaded train, she said.
