The Indian cricket team lost the 5-match T20I series against West Indies after losing the fifth T20I by 8 wickets which was played yesterday at Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium, Lauderhill, Florida.

The toss was won by the Indian team and after batting first, it put up a total of 165/9 on the scoreboard with the help of a brilliant knock of Suryakumar Yadav who scored 61 runs. The target was successfully chased by the West Indian team with 2 overs remaining in their innings.

After the match, when Hardik Pandya was asked about the game, he made an honest admission, “If you see, we lost that period post 10 overs. Since when I came, I wasn’t able to capitalise and I took my time and could not finish.”

He further added, “I believe that as a group we have to challenge ourselves. All these games are the games where we have to learn. We have spoken as a group that whenever we can take the hard way we will. In hindsight, one series here or there doesn’t matter but the commitment to the goal is important.”

Hardik Pandya praised the youngsters of his team as he said, “It’s a long way. We have the ODI World Cup coming up. And sometimes losing is good. You get to learn a lot. And special mention for all the boys. They showed great character. Winning and losing is a part of the process and we are going to make sure we learn from that.”

This defeat will surely make the Indian team wake up and smell the coffee.
