Thanks to OpenAI, everyone can use ChatGPT Search without registering. Anyone in the world can use the AI platform and begin using the AI firm’s native search engine-powered functionality to ask questions, the business said when it announced the tool’s deployment on Wednesday. Notably, the corporation initially made the feature available to paying subscribers in November 2024. It was also made available to customers on the free tier in December 2024.
ChatGPT Search Is Now Available to All Users
OpenAI’s official handle on X (previously known as Twitter) announced the extension of the search function in a post. This enables users of the ChatGPT website to pose real-time questions to the chatbot that need to be answered by the internet.
Employees of Gadgets 360 could also view the feature on the Android app. At the time of writing, though, it wasn’t for the iOS app. It may be released in the days ahead.
The GPT-4o AI model will power the feature for those without an OpenAI account. The “Attach file” icon in the text field will have a globe icon next to it on the ChatGPT interface. The web search mode will be manually activated by tapping the globe button, and the chatbot will only respond to user inquiries using data from the internet.
Additionally, the functionality shows the information’s source in two different ways. Following each sentence, a clickable symbol indicates the specific source of the information. A list of sources can also be clicked at the bottom of the response. OpenAI has not disclosed rate limitations for ChatGPT Search for unregistered users. The feature has no rate limit for users on the free tier.
In addition, a recent report asserted that rapid injection techniques could exploit the functionality. It was discovered that the AI program detects and begins producing biased output if a website employs hidden text to convey false information. When OpenAI is resolved, the problem is unknown.
