Orange Alert for Dense Fog Casts Uncertainty Over Delhi’s Republic Day

According to a their source, the meteorological service has issued a “orange alert” for January 26 due to the possibility of moderate to intense fog in several areas of Delhi during the early hours of Republic Day.

Because of the fog, visibility in the nation’s capital is predicted to be limited to 400 metres until 8.30 am. There is, nevertheless, a chance for improvement; by 10.30 am, visibility should reach 1,500 metres.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), it would be between five and seven degrees Celsius at minimum. It also stated that Delhi is now witnessing chilly daytime temperatures along with thick fog at night and in the morning.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated that on January 25, Delhi had a lowest temperature of 4.8 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the season’s normal. The highest recorded temperature was 20.5 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below average. At 530 p.m., the relative humidity was 69%.

According to the Indian Railways, fog in some areas of northern India caused delays for 24 trains headed for Delhi.
