Pakistan cricket captain Mohammad Rizwan is reportedly unhappy with the way the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) treated him and fellow senior player Babar Azam after the team’s disappointing run in the Champions Trophy, where they failed to win a single game and exited at the group stage.
Following the tournament, the PCB shifted focus to building a fresh squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup. As part of that plan, both Rizwan and Babar were dropped from the five-match T20I series in New Zealand, with selectors opting for a younger, more aggressive lineup under the leadership of Salman Agha.
A report quoted sources saying Rizwan has been left “frustrated” by the PCB’s decision and the lack of communication following the Champions Trophy campaign. The report further stated that both Rizwan and Babar are expected to meet PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi in the coming days to discuss the situation and get clarity regarding their roles in the T20 format.
The source also mentioned, “Rizwan will seek more power in the selection of eleven in the match and there is a possibility that if not given full powers then he might resign from ODI captaincy.”
This situation points to rising tension within the Pakistan camp, as key players look for answers and more involvement in major decisions about team selection and strategy.
