The recent buzz around Panchayat 4 largely centers on the much-talked-about kissing scene between the characters of Sachiv Ji and Rinki, portrayed by Jitendra Kumar and Sanvikaa. While Sanvikaa had previously stated her initial refusal to film the intimate moment, Jitendra Kumar has now offered a different perspective, suggesting her comments were misunderstood.
Jitendra Kumar recently addressed the scene in an interview, explaining, “I think Sanvikaa’s comment was taken out of context. When the scene was proposed, I told the makers to ask her first. Her consent was essential. We wanted to make the scene awkwardly funny—like they’re about to kiss, and the light goes off. But eventually, it was shot differently.”
He further elaborated on his own approach to such scenes, adding, “I kissed Ayushmann Khurrana in Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan. I’ve kissed actresses on screen before. As an actor, I don’t have reservations about it. But whether it’s a kiss or any other scene, it has to serve the story. Kahani mein maza aana chahiye, audience se connect karna chahiye.”
Conversely, Sanvikaa, in an interview, recounted her initial hesitation. She revealed, “In the beginning, no one said anything when the narration was done. But then director Akshat talked to me. He told that in this season we have inserted a scene where Sachiv ji and Rinki will kiss. Earlier the scene was different. Both of them are in the car, she falls down and then they kiss.”
The actress explained that she needed time to weigh the request, considering both her personal comfort and the show’s significant family viewership. “So I said give me two days to think whether I am comfortable doing it or not. Then I thought that ‘Panchayat’ has all kinds of audiences, but mostly family people. I was worried about how he would react, and I was also not comfortable. So I refused at that time. But when we were shooting, they removed that scene, but they inserted the tank scene.”
