As Panchayat Season 4 prepares for its June 24 premiere, actor Jitendra Kumar is once again a focal point in discussions surrounding authentic small-town narratives and impactful acting.
In a recent interview, Jitendra delved into his career trajectory, the origin of his now-iconic screen moniker, “Jitu Bhaiya,” and how pivotal shows like Panchayat and Kota Factory have shaped his professional path.
Jitendra first garnered widespread recognition for his role in Kota Factory, where he embodied the beloved character of “Jitu Bhaiya”. Reflecting on how the name became a cultural touchstone, he shared, “Wo toh jo character play kiya Kota Factory main Jitu Bhaiya ke naam se toh usme se wo cheez popular hui… Bhaiya hai toh wo aur homely ho jaate hai. That’s the reason ki wo term logo ne pakad li aur us naam se baar baar bulate hai.” He elaborated that the simplicity and inherent relatability of the name resonated deeply with audiences, leading to its widespread adoption.
The actor attributes both Panchayat and Kota Factory with providing him the creative freedom he had long sought. “I had been waiting for roles that resonated with the kind of work I wanted to do. With Panchayat and Kota Factory, I got that chance… that’s what’s also connecting with the audience,” he stated, highlighting the synergy between his artistic aspirations and audience reception.
