Reflecting on his time shooting the 1994 cult classic Andaz Apna Apna, veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently shared fond memories from the set, offering insights into what made the experience stand apart from his many other comedic roles. In the film, Rawal played the memorable double role of Ram Gopal Bajaj and his twin Teja, a performance still etched in audiences’ minds decades later.

Paresh Rawal spoke about the distinct working styles of his co-stars Aamir Khan and Salman Khan, noting how their approaches added different flavors to the film’s making. “Salman’s own charm and charisma is so powerful. He was like a breeze. But, with Aamir, his way of working is methodical. Salman toh hasste khelte aayega aur karlega, Aamir has to know everything. So, kabhi kabhi lagta tha ki thoda toh kahin par manufacture kia hua lagta hai. But, when you see his final impact, it’s amazing,” he recalled.

Unlike many comedy projects where the humor is only recognized in retrospect, Andaz Apna Apna offered a rare exception. Paresh Rawal shared that the fun was palpable even during the shoot. “I am really fortunate and lucky that Raj (Rajkumar Santoshi) gave me this film (Andaz Apna Apna). When you do a comedy film, you don’t laugh while shooting. Many people say Hera Pheri was so funny but we didn’t even know. But this (Andaz Apna Apna) is the only film in which we were having fun even while making it. The way our director was explaining every scene, we used to have a lot of fun and we knew deep down that it’s funny.”

The nostalgic buzz around the film has found new life with Salman Khan’s recent announcement. Just a week after the release of his latest film Sikandar, Salman confirmed the re-release of Andaz Apna Apna, scheduled for 25 April. For fans, this is a chance to revisit the classic on the big screen, and for the cast, it’s a reminder of a film that was as enjoyable to create as it has been to watch.
