Patralekhaa and Rajkummar Rao have a love story that has charmed many. After dating for over a decade, the couple finally tied the knot in 2021. Recently, Patralekhaa shared the amusing and heartwarming details of their first meeting during an interview, reflecting on how her first impression of Rajkummar was far from romantic.
Patralekhaa admitted that when she first encountered Rajkummar Rao, her initial reaction wasn’t exactly love at first sight. She had just seen his debut film, Love Sex Aur Dhokha (LSD), and found his character unsettling. Shortly after, she was invited by a friend to shoot a music video with Rajkummar. “I said, ‘Ruksana, no, I am not coming because I think he is very creepy and I was scared,’” Patralekhaa recalled. Despite her hesitations, she agreed to go, but only if her sister accompanied her.
Patralekhaa’s nerves were still high during their car ride to the shoot location in Pune. She even had her sister sit between her and Rajkummar to avoid any awkwardness. However, as they started chatting, her perception of him began to shift. Rajkummar, who had seen her in an ad, was instantly taken with her. “As the story goes, he had seen that particular ad and he was like, ‘I wanna marry this girl,’” Patralekhaa shared.
It wasn’t long before Patralekhaa began to see Rajkummar in a new light. During the three days they spent filming the music video, she saw just how passionate he was about his craft. “He was just a different human being. Someone who loved his art so much, and was so passionate about his work,” she said, expressing admiration for his dedication. It was this passion, integrity, and depth that made Patralekhaa fall for him. “I just couldn’t stop falling in love with him.”
Patralekhaa also reflected on how rare it was to meet someone like Rajkummar in an industry where many were focused on fame and fortune. She admired how Rajkummar was motivated purely by his love for acting. Their relationship blossomed from this shared understanding, and after over ten years of dating, they got married in 2021.
