“People Are Run-Hungry, Virat Kohli Is Century-Hungry”: Sunil Gavaskar

The Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is in terrific form as he has smashed 711 runs in the 10 matches played in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and it includes five half-centuries and 3 centuries. Virat Kohli scored his 50th ODI century in the first semi-final of the tournament which India played against New Zealand and won by 70 runs.

Virat Kohli also has 29 centuries in test cricket and one in T20I as well which takes the total of his centuries to 80 and he is at the second spot in the list of the maximum centuries after Sachin Tendulkar who has 100 international centuries to his name.

During an interview, the former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar praised Virat Kohli and called him century-hungry rather than runs-hungry. He stated, “The next best (among active players) is Rohit Sharma with 31. So it just tells you the vast gap between him and the rest. People are run-hungry, he is century-hungry. And his hunger for centuries is insatiable and that is how it should be. Every batter worth his salt should put a minimum price of 100 against his name.”

The Indian team will now face Australia in the final match of the tournament on 19 Nov at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, and it is very important that Virat Kohli once again plays a big knock in this match.
