During their Friday delegation-level meetings in Paris, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron discussed a wide variety of bilateral collaboration opportunities.
According to a tweet from Arindam Bagchi, a spokesperson for the ministry of external affairs, both presidents discussed a wide variety of bilateral cooperation topics, including defense, space, civil nuclear, research, technology, trade, and investment, energy, climate action, culture, and people-to-people ties.
Discussions about the Indo-Pacific region, global issues, and India’s G20 chairmanship also took place. Horizon 2047 was adopted, among other ambitious outcome agreements, Bagchi continued.
President Emmanuel Macron and I met with prominent CEOs to talk about ways to diversify commercial partnerships, the Prime Minister of India said in a tweet earlier. I emphasized India’s reforms and urged businesspeople to take advantage of all the country has to offer.
One of the outcomes of Prime Minister Modi’s visit to France was the roadmap for India-France collaboration in the Indo-Pacific.
Another result was the granting of short-stay Schengen visas with a five-year validity to Indians with degrees from French educational institutions (Masters and above).
India is establishing a ‘Technical Office’ of the DRDO at its embassy in Paris due to the increase in defence industry collaborations between the two nations.
In accordance with the historic UNEA 5.2 resolution, India and France will also constructively engage other like-minded nations to forward the discussions for an international legally enforceable instrument to prevent plastic pollution.
