PM Modi address 8 PM

In his first speech since the India-Pakistan military conflict began last week—following Operation Sindoor’s strikes on terror targets in Pakistani territory and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK)—PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the nation today at around 8 p.m.

In the early days following India’s May 7 launch of Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terror targets, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri briefed the media. The Indian military took responsibility on Sunday and gave a media briefing on Monday afternoon. PM Modi will now take over tonight.

Two days after India and Pakistan agreed to halt all military operations on land immediately, in the air, and at sea, the speech was given. After four days of cross-border strikes that raised concerns about a larger war, an agreement was struck.

According to Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, director general of military operations (DGMO), New Delhi met its goals, and 35–40 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the battle.

This evening marks Ghai’s second meeting with his Pakistani counterpart since Saturday.

Details on Operation Sindoor:

On the intervening nights of May 6 and 7, the Indian Armed Forces began Operation Sindoor in retaliation for the deaths of 26 civilians in the Pahalgam terror attack.

Over 100 terrorists were killed as the military struck nine terror locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. On May 8, 9, and 10, Pakistan then attempted to hit several Indian forces.

Several Pakistani military outposts, notably Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, were the target of a vigorous counterattack by the Indian military.

Precision munitions were also used to target radar sites at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation base, resulting in significant damage.
