In a significant development, Telangana police are reportedly preparing to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the interim bail granted to actor Allu Arjun. This move comes in the wake of the tragic incident at Hyderabad’s Sandhya Theatre during the screening of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The stampede at the event led to the death of a 35-year-old woman and left her 9-year-old son with severe injuries.
The incident occurred earlier this month during a promotional event attended by Allu Arjun and music director Devi Sri Prasad. Massive crowds gathered to catch a glimpse of the star, leading to chaos at the venue. The theatre’s main gate collapsed, triggering a stampede.
The tragedy resulted in the death of the woman and injuries to several others, including her young son. Following the incident, Telangana police arrested Allu Arjun on December 13, 2024, citing negligence and failure to ensure proper safety measures at the event.
Allu Arjun was taken into custody from his residence and sent to 14-day judicial custody. However, he was granted interim bail for four weeks on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000. Despite the bail, delays in completing paperwork forced the actor to spend a night in jail before his release.
Dissatisfied with the bail order, Telangana police are reportedly planning to escalate the matter to the Supreme Court. Officials believe that the interim bail could hinder the ongoing investigation into the incident. They are expected to argue for stricter legal scrutiny and accountability.
