Political Shake-up: NCP to Hold Crucial Meeting on July 5 After Key Members Join Shinde Government

Important developments include the appointment of Ajit Pawar as deputy chief minister and the swearing-in of 8 additional NCP MLAs as ministers.

After former Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and leader of the opposition Ajit Pawar took an oath as the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, NCP chief Sharad Pawar called a meeting on 5 July in Mumbai to discuss the developments and the next course of action, according to Jayant Patil, the head of the party’s state unit.

Today, Sharad Pawar will travel to Karad, where he will speak at a public gathering and pay a visit to the Yashwant Chavan Samadhi. Ajit Pawar, meanwhile, called a meeting of all NCP ministers on Monday morning at his Devgiri house in South Mumbai.

Ajit Pawar and eight other MLAs who took an oath of office as ministers in the Eknath Shinde-led state government have been named in a disqualification petition that has been filed, according to Jayant Patil, the head of the Maharashtra Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). He noted that Speaker Rahul Narvekar has received the petition for disqualification. He said that the NCP’s rank and file is with party Chief Sharad Pawar in an email filed to the Election Commission of India.

Jitendra Awhad replaced Ajit Pawar as the leader of the opposition in the assembly on Sunday after Pawar opened a rift among the NCP by joining the Maharashtra administration. Pawar’s action is yet another setback for both the Opposition unity initiative and the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA). Sharad Pawar, on the other hand, remained resolute and vowed to revive the party.

Live updates on the Maharashtra political crisis: Along with Ajit Pawar, a total of 37 MLAs have sided with the BJP amid the present NCP dispute.

When discussing politics in Maharashtra, BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain said, “You can see the plight of the people who assembled in Patna. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has the support of the entire nation, but this is only the beginning. In Maharashtra, the results of the opposition gathering in Patna are starting to become apparent. In Bihar, the BJP is getting ready for elections and will once again perform well.
