Straighten Up – Try to keep your back straight when you sit or walk. Stand straight against the wall, as if you are measuring your height. Tuck in your chin and hold your head straight. Keep your shoulders back, tuck in your belly and straighten your shoulders. Your head should feel like stretching towards the sky. Repeat this a few times every day and you will not only feel better but look slimmer too.

Avoid Slumping at your Desk – It feels good to lean back and swivel in your office chair but it is not good for posture. Instead of doing this, sit back in your chair and place a lumbar cushion or a small rolled-up towel behind your mid-back. Bend your knees at a right angle, keeping them at the same height as your hips, while placing your feet flat on the floor.

Don’t be a Low Rider – Reclining back while driving may feel comfy, but it is not good for your posture. Try to sit upright and don’t lock your legs. Your knees should always be at your hip level or slightly higher. It would be better if you keep a pillow or a rolled-up towel behind your back.

Avoid Wearing Heels all the Time – Heels might be fashionable but are not good for your posture, so avoid wearing them all the time. Heels tend to thrust the base of your spine forward, thus over-arching your back. This can also put pressure on your nerves and cause back pain. So, save your heels for special occasions and wear lower, chunky heels for daily wear.
