Prabhas’ Adipurush Slammed For Distortion Of Facts, Indians Are Angry

Om Raut directed Adipurush which is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana and stars Prabhas and Kriti Sanon in the roles of Raghav and Janaki released yesterday and it has opened to some very negative reviews. Not just the critics but audiences are also slamming the makers for distorting the facts in the name of creative liberty and also for the use of slang language in the movie.

The film in which Saif Ali Khan has played the character of Lankesh has attracted controversies from the time its teaser was launched because many people alleged that the movie seems to be the Hindi adaptation of Hollywood movie, Planet of the Apes rather than Ramayana. The characterization of Lankesh was also under fire as he looked more as a Mughal invader rather than Raavan.

Though Adipurush has earned around Rs. 100 crores on the first day of its opening and it may recover its cost as earlier the makers have earned Rs. 432 crores by selling the satellite right, music rights and digital rights of the movie but the huge majority of audiences is very angry with the director, writer and actors of Adipurush.

Twitterati expressed their annoyance and disappointment and here are some selected reactions:
