Prabhas and Deepika Padukone starrer Kalki 2898 AD is one of the big budget movies ever made in India and this sci-fi movie which is said to be set in the future is going to hit the theatres next year.

The film is being directed by Nag Ashwin and recently he attended an event at IIT Bombay; while addressing the students, Nag Ashwin revealed some interesting details about the movie.

When a student asked him whether he is going to create Kalki 2898 AD as Star Wars, Nag Ashwin made it clear that Kalki is one of its kind movie which won’t have a sequel. The student asked, “Will the film be India’s Star Wars? Are you planning to build an entire universe around it?”

In response, Nag Ashwin said, “I don’t think so… this will be India’s K. It’s India’s Project K, India’s Kalki. It’s one film and I think that’s enough.”

When Nag Ashwin was asked why the movie has been named Kalki despite the fact that it is a sci-fi movie, he said, “Kalki is the final avatar of Vishnu. Despite being set in the future, the film has a connection to the past that will be revealed in the film. We thought this would be an apt name.”

The movie also stars some big names of the Indian film industry such as Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan and Disha Patani in important roles.
