Prabhas’ Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire has roared back into theaters, making a grand comeback on March 21. Originally released in December 2023, the film has now dethroned Tumbbad to become the highest-grossing re-release in India. The action-packed spectacle continues to draw audiences despite already being available on streaming platforms.
According to reports, Salaar has generated Rs 1.72 crore in ticket sales across southern states, surpassing Tumbbad, which had previously held the record with Rs 1.6 crore. The film’s advance bookings saw an impressive turnout, with around 1,35,228 tickets sold on the first day, achieving a real occupancy rate of 33.55%.
While Salaar has set a new milestone, it still trails behind Sanam Teri Kasam, which holds the record for the highest-opening re-release in India. The 2016 romantic drama, starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, experienced an unexpected resurgence at the box office, collecting a staggering Rs 4.25 crore on its first day.
The overwhelming response to Salaar’s return to theaters reaffirms its massive popularity, with audiences once again flocking to relive the high-octane action on the big screen.
