Property agent jailed for cheating granted bail 2 days after his death

A court granted temporary bail to a real estate agent who was arrested for cheating. But, the bail was granted two days after the man died.

On “medical and humanitarian grounds”, a judge in this city recently granted interim release to a 62-year-old real estate agent who had been detained in a cheating case, two days after the man had passed away.

On May 9, hours after the conclusion of the hearing about his release request, Suresh Pawar passed away. Two days earlier, additional sessions judge Vishal S. Gaike had granted him temporary bail.

Pawar was put behind bars for using fake documentation to sell a property. The defendant, who had been detained since December 31, 2021, had requested interim release for a period of six months due to health concerns.

Pawar claimed he suffered from severe diabetes and many age-related diseases, in his application. He had a toe injury in February, was sent to the government-run J J Hospital, and was subsequently released. However, the petitioner claimed that because to gangrene in his toe, it had to be removed.

The argument states that Pawar withdrew his release plea from the high court on April 19 after the court ordered the jail personnel to provide him with adequate medical care in March.

Pawar’s health worsened and he was readmitted to J J Hospital,
next day. However, because of subpar medical care, his wound turned septic, necessitating the amputation of his leg below the knee, the statement claimed.

Later, Pawar contracted a lung illness and sought six months of interim release for medical treatment. The court remarked in its ruling that Pawar’s request for interim relief might be taken into consideration on strictly humanitarian grounds given his advanced age, serious physical issues, and ongoing need for medical treatment.
