Punjab Gurudwara Tragedy: Nihang Sikh Shoots Cop Dead, 5 Arrested

According to a top officer on Thursday, five suspects have been taken into custody for the murder of a policeman in the Sultanpur Lodhi region of the district.

In Sultanpur Lodhi, there was an unjustified shooting incident at a police party today (Thursday). Jaspal Singh, a police officer, died. CM Punjab declared ₹ 2 crore as compensation. His children would likewise receive jobs. Five people have been taken into custody in connection with a case we filed under Section 302, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Arpit Shukla informed.

According to authorities, the gunfight resulted from continuous hostilities between two Nihang factions regarding possession of a Gurdwara located in Sultanpur Lodhi, in the Kapurthala district of Punjab.

A group of the Nihangs and about fifteen additional associates broke inside Gurudwara on November 21.

The party led by Baba Maan Singh entered Gurudwara, tied Nirvair Singh with a rope, and then occupied the Gurdwara and other locations. Jagjit Singh was beaten with a weapon, and his money, mobile phone, and ammo were taken from him. Following the fire incident, the Sultanpur Lodhi Police investigated the situation right away and detained ten members of Baba Maan Singh’s organisation.
