‘Shoot-on-sight’ was ordered by Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami at Banbhulpura, Haldwani, in reaction to disturbances caused by the demolition of an illegal mosque (madrasa). Unless there is an emergency, individuals are encouraged to stay at home, and all schools in Haldwani will be closed. The on-the-ground correspondent was surrounded by fervent demonstrators and confined inside the police station.
