R Madhavan took to Instagram to share that the UAE has directed hotels to provide complimentary stay extensions to passengers unable to leave due to airspace closures. According to reports, the state will bear all accommodation and hosting costs.
Meanwhile, Gulf News reported that the Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism issued a circular on February 28 instructing hotel general managers to support stranded guests. As a result, thousands received immediate relief during a volatile situation.
The actor, who relocated to Dubai during the Covid pandemic, has often spoken about calling the city home. Therefore, his amplification of the initiative carries personal credibility rather than distant commentary.
20,200 Passengers Assisted As Flights Halt
Escalating tensions between the United States, Israel and Iran triggered widespread flight cancellations across West Asia. Consequently, hundreds of flights were scrapped, stranding thousands across regional transit hubs, including the UAE.
Authorities confirmed that airports and national carriers provided temporary accommodation, meals and refreshments to 20,200 passengers. In addition, officials assured travellers that rebooking procedures would be facilitated.

In contrast, lyricist Javed Akhtar took a sharply political stance on X. He criticised former US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, arguing that their actions could destabilise global credibility structures.
Earlier, Madhavan had told Bollywood Hungama that he and his family are currently in the United States and safe. He also stated they would remain there until conditions stabilise in Dubai.
