R Madhavan has long been regarded as one of the most versatile actors in the industry, winning hearts with his exceptional performances. As he prepares for his next film, Test, the actor recently spoke about why he took a four-year break from films, revealing that he had become disillusioned with the work he was doing.
In a recent interview, the Kesari Chapter 2 actor shared his thoughts on what led him to step away. “I had to take a break because I was very disillusioned by the kind of work I was doing. I was shooting a Tamil song in Switzerland, wearing orange pants and a green shirt. I was gyrating to the music. I was in the middle of the road, and I saw this Swiss farmer looking at us with complete disdain and shaking his head. I looked at him and said, ‘You come to Chennai, I’ll show you who I am.’ I was really offended, but it struck me suddenly that I am literally dancing to other people’s tunes.”
Elaborating further, he added, “My wife looked at me one morning and said, ‘You’re going to work like you want to come back from it.’ I said yes. So, I took a break. I wanted to understand where the country is going, what are the kind of things that people are appreciating. I stopped acting. I stopped doing even ad films. I grew a beard. I travelled across India and understood what really matters, how the rickshaw guys are talking. And that insight of four years is probably what I’m eating off right now.”
Now, R Madhavan is back with several exciting projects. He will be seen in Kesari Chapter 2 alongside Akshay Kumar and Ananya Panday. The recently released character poster has heightened fans’ excitement, showcasing him in an intense look. He plays the role of Neville Mckinley, seemingly an advocate, dressed in a black lawyer’s robe with his hair tied back in a sleek salt-and-pepper style.
Apart from this, Madhavan is also part of De De Pyaar De 2 with Ajay Devgn and Rakul Preet Singh, which is currently in production. With a promising lineup ahead, fans eagerly await his return to the silver screen.
