On April 1, Vivienne Westwood held its first fashion show in India. The red carpet was as star-studded as ever, with the Gateway of India in the background. The unexpected aspect was Radhika Merchant wearing a 1990 Vivienne Westwood corset and a custom-made saree.

Here’s what Radhika Merchant wore:

Ambani chose a magnificent corset from the luxury brand’s classic collection, and her choti bahu looked as stunning as ever. The French painter François Boucher’s portrait of Daphnis and Chloe is featured on the ivory and silk corset. The corset has an asymmetrical hem, a sweetheart neckline, and sleeveless designs.

Radhika paired the corset with a specially designed silk saree with a golden border and Renaissance paintings. As she stood for the photos, Radhika incorporated floor-sweeping embellishments into her ensemble while holding the pallu in one hand. Could you take a look at her outfit here?

How Radhika completed her ensemble:

Radhika, who Rhea Kapoor styled, accessorized her ensemble with a white studded stone and a bold white choker necklace. She finished her ensemble with a black beaded bracelet in one hand and ear earrings set with dazzling diamonds.

Radhika Merchant let her outfit speak for itself, wearing her hair in a loose ponytail with a center part and wearing very little makeup. Radhika completed her appearance with pink lipstick, contoured cheekbones, mascara-filled eyelashes, black eyeliner, and nude eyeshadow.

About the Vivienne Westwood India Show:

The first glimpse of Vivienne Westwood’s India exhibition was posted on their official Instagram account on March 31. An excerpt from the caption stated, “Vivienne Westwood is expected to present their first fashion show in India, presented at the historic and prestigious Gateway of India, Mumbai, celebrating India’s rich artisanal textile heritage.”

“Along with a capsule collection of Vivienne Westwood couture looks created with the finest hand-woven Chanderi silks and Khadi cotton, wool, and silks—the fabric revitalized by Mahatma Gandhi and known as a symbol of freedom in India—the show will present a selection of Spring Summer 2025 Vivienne Westwood looks and special archive pieces,” the luxury brand said.
