The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is slated to be played in India from 5 October 2023 and teams of other cricketing nations have started arriving in the country. The Pakistani team arrived yesterday in India and it was welcomed by Indian fans at the airport. Due to political tensions between both the nations, India and Pakistan haven’t played any bilateral series for a long time and recently India also refused to send their cricket team to Pakistan for playing in the Asia Cup.
The Indian government has made it clear to the Pakistani government that they need to stop sponsoring anti-India activities if they want both the nations to resume their sports relations. The Indian government has not only banned Pakistani cricketers from the IPL but Pakistani artists are also banned in India from working in movies or conducting shows as of now.
However, there was a time when we used to see Pakistani artists in Indian movies especially Hindi movies and recently Rahul Dholakia, the director of Hindi movie ‘Raees’ which starred Shah Rukh Khan and Pakistani actress Mahira Khan in lead roles has asked a question on X in regard to comeback of Pakistani artists in Bollywood.
Rahul Dholakia tweeted, “Now that #Pakistani cricketers are officially here, can we also invite Pakistani actors to act in our films ? Or Musicians to perform?”
