After declaring that he was “fed up” with the show, Raghu Ram left. He further mentioned that the “show was over” after he and his brother Rajiv left.
Roadies executive producer and former judge Raghu Ram has discussed his reasons for leaving the MTV program. In an interview, Raghu also discussed how the show had an impact on his marriage. He said that it “jumped the shark” when he and his brother Rajiv Lakshman left MTV Roadies.
Raghu on the effects of the set on his marriage and well-being
“My life was going through a lot of stress personally because of Roadies and the surrounding craze,” Raghu said. My marriage was having trouble. In the end, I was divorced. Everything about my health physical, emotional, and otherwise was out of control. I have to step back from this. I’m pleased I stopped, so that’s good. I have never regretted leaving on any day.
Talking about his conflict with MTV, Raghu
At the end of the programme, Raghu declared himself “done, fed up” and left. He added that he disagreed with MTV’s desire to produce the show in a particular way. A “certain populist kind of angle to it” was what the channel was looking for, he continued.
Regarding Raghu’s potential comeback to Roadies
Regarding his planned comeback to the programme, Raghu stated, “No, it’s not going to happen. It was requested of us, but I’m not interested. It has been a while since I last saw Roadies. These days it’s not ‘that’ Roadies. The programme that goes by the moniker Roadies is quite different from this one. The structure is more akin to the voice than the earlier Roadies. That show ended when Rajiv and I left that day. That specific format was no longer in use.”
