Rajasthan Welcomes Bhajan Lal Sharma as Chief Minister

There has been significant confusion around Rajasthan’s next Chief Minister nomination after the BJP won the most recent State Assembly election. On the other hand, Sanganer MLA Bhajan Lal Sharma has been chosen to be the next Chief Minister of Rajasthan.

At the Jaipur conference of the BJP Legislature Party, Mr. Sharma’s name was declared. During the Legislature Party meeting, Sharma was suggested by former chief minister Vasundhara Raje. Kirodi Lal Meena and other high-ranking officials seconded it.

Defence Minister and central observer Rajnath Singh said that Prem Chand Bairwa and Diya Kumari will be the two Deputy Chief Ministers. Ms. Kumari is a member of Jaipur’s former royal dynasty. In her speeches for elections, she emphasized Rajasthan’s need for parivartan, or reform.

The 51-year-old head of the Bharatiya Janata Party was reportedly one of the favourites to become Chief Minister. Sharma beats rival Congress candidate Pushpendra Bhardwaj in the Rajasthan elections of 2023 to win the Sanganer seat and become the assembly’s first elected member by a wide margin of more than 48,000 votes. He comes from the Bharatpur district and has held the position of general secretary of the state BJP unit four times. Sharma is a political science master’s degree holder.
