Adil Khan Durrani, former husband of dancer-actress Rakhi Sawant, is once again making headlines after his recent controversial comments on marital rape. In an interview, Adil downplayed the occurrence of marital rape, stating, “Jitna main dekhta hu, utna to marital rape nahin hota society mein. I know a lot of people, including international friends, and I have never heard of marital rape happening.”
He further added that there are fewer cases of marital rape compared to other forms of s*xual assault. According to Adil, if a couple lacks mutual affection or interest, they should separate instead of staying together.
Adil’s comments come after a string of controversies. He was previously married to Rakhi Sawant, and the couple split last year after Rakhi accused him of infidelity and extramarital affairs. Following these allegations, Adil was arrested from Rakhi’s residence on February 7, 2023, and spent five months in jail.
In addition to Rakhi’s accusations, Adil faced a separate allegation in February 2023. An Iranian woman filed an FIR in Mysuru, accusing him of rape. The woman, who came to India in 2018 for her doctoral studies, claimed she was in a relationship with Adil, who promised to marry her. The relationship allegedly lasted three years, during which they lived together. The woman claimed Adil threatened and assaulted her when she insisted on marriage.
Adil Khan Durrani is now married to Bigg Boss 12 contestant Somi Khan, further attracting public attention.
